Willingale Spain: White family
« on: Saturday 24 April 10 16:41 BST (UK) »
I'm researching the WHITE family from Willingale Spain .....

Charles WHITE and Sarah (surname not known).
Children:
- Charles (1832)
- Hannah Charlotte (1834)
- Ararat James (1835)
- Drusilla (1836) -----> married George LEFEVRE

- Albert (1843)
- Matilda (1845)
- Henry Thomas (1847)
- Frederick William (1848)
- Walter Edward (1850)

Charles WHITE was a poulterer!

I have the feeling that Sarah might have been Charles's second wife as there is a space of 7 years between Drusilla & Albert.

As Willingale Spain was just a small village in that time and they did have their own church. Would the records of this Parish be available for research somewhere on-line ..... ?
Sarah was from Willingale Doe ..... (according the census)

Any idea's to find out more about them would be very appreciated.

Regards,
Miranda

A birth cert for one of the children born after 1837 will give their mothers maiden name

Willingale certainly has a church - isnt that the parish with two churches next to each other with a parish boundary between them, or am I mixing it up with somewhere else? I must admit I have never heard of Willingdale SPain - I am off to look at my Essex map book!

Some Essex PR's are online on the SEAX site (google SEAX for full address).
CLick on 'images' on the site and put the name of the place in the box, and it will soon tell you if they are online or not.

Yes - well I was right about the two churches next door to each other.
And I have learnt that there is indeed a Parish called Willingdale SPain !

See

Here is the link for SEAX

but I have had a quick look and it seems that the Willingdale(s) are not online

Yes, in the census of 1841 ..... no Sarah!
That is why I thought that the mother of these children had died and Charles married a Sarah.
But I also couldn't find a marriage between a Charles WHITE and a Sarah.
Also haven't found a Sarah WHITE in census of 1841 with another family in the area ..... that she had might visit at that time.

So I was hoping that the Parish records would give me the answer .....

Thanks to "lizdb" who gave me the link to SEAX .... I'm going to e-mail them if they can help.

Have you noticed on 1851 that there are two Druscilla Whites of similar age born Willingdale?
The other one is a servant in Islington.

There is only the one on 1841, so I wonder if she has been recorded twice, once at home and once at live in employment
I'll look at births and see if two were born ....

modified to add - that didnt help, cant even see one born!
