Roy family from Glasgow

Hello Canada,
I've posted the following in Scotland forum but because I know that at least 3 of this family were in Alberta 1914-16 I am hoping to get some help here.

I know there's an army of RC'rs waiting for a challenge.  If any of you can help me I would greatly appreciate it.   
Trying to trace what happened to the following family:

Margaret Graham Roy b Glasgow 1880
Charles Roy b 1882
Eliza Roy b 1883
William Graham Roy b 1886
Jessie Ann Roy b 1889
Frederick (David?)and twin Douglas Forrester Roy b 1890
Arthur P(otts?) Roy b 1892

Last known address in 1901 was 5 Westbank Quadrant,Glasgow.  Margaret was head of house, I can't find parents anywhere in 1901, perhaps dead.   Mother was from Cheshire but can't find them visiting any of family.I have found Fred, Douglas and Charles in Edmonton, Alberta through Ancestry Military.  Fred joined Canadian Army 1914, Douglas 1916, Charles named next of kin; don't know after that.     Did all the family move to Canada perhaps?   or can any kind person find any still in UK.

I'll post on Canada forum in the hope that someone may be able to help with immigration and onwards.

You can view the attestation papers at the above site and can also order the complete military files on Fred and Douglas at the same site using a credit card. The cost is quite reasonable and can contain a lot of information including death certificates in some circumstances.

The Great War Project has Frederick David Roy listed and gives more information on him. You can search on the site using his regiment #, shows that he was PPCLI, Canadian Pay Corps and was wounded. This site is contantly being updated and more information added as they receive it.

You can click on split screen at the top of the page and it will bring up the original documents that you can check for more information such as religion, occupation, etc. I am fairly certain these are your family. I didn't find any other Roy's but the females could have been married and immigrated under married surname.

I have seen the attestation papers as hints for my tree on Ancestry.   Thats how I knew that these 3 had come to Canada.

The other links you provide are completely new to me, and I thank you so much for your help.  I will have to check them out later.

I hope to find the rest of the family at some point.   Interesting to see that Charles was married, Harriet is a new person to me, don't know where Alta is.    Is that short for Alberta or an actual place I wonder.  To be researched.

If you go to the section Canada Resources at the top of the page you might find some sites to search for obituaries and graves for Alberta. There are quite a few different sites listed for research.

On the 1916 census for the prairie provinces of Canada Charles Roy, 33, b. Scotland, Anglican, accountant married to Harriet C. Roy, 27, b. Canada living at 11409 123 St. Edmonton.  This link will let you search Edmonton directories and also newspaper indexes for obituaries.  The obituaries would then have to be ordered and it is a pay service.

Choosing 1925 at random you find Fred D. Roy, clerk for CNR (Canadian National Railway) living at 12316 118 Ave. Edmonton and Chas Roy, accountant for Scona Creamery Co. living at 11409 123 St. Edmonton.

Douglas Forester Roy sailed home from WWI on the Olympic departing Southampton arriving Halifax 13 Jun 1919.  Religon Presbyterian going to brother in Edmonton.

Possibility for Fred Roy's arrival in Canada on the Virginia leaving Liverpool and arriving Halifax, N.S. 11 March 1911.   Age 20, single, b. Scotland, Church of Scotland, destination Edmonton, occupation clerk.

There are no BMDs for Alberta online.  You have to try and find traces of relatives in other ways for this province.

Hi Debbie and Valerie

Thanks for input.  I've been under orders to stay away from computer for a couple of days, just popped in briefly for an update. 
Will look into thes leads as soon as I dare.  (family concerned about me, had some sort of forgetful episode on Saturday, frightened us all)
