Thanks Lizzie, You were too late, I did it when I left Rootschat last night, luckily the download is now 7.4.038 so hopefully no problem. Will find out soon anyway.

Hi Roger

Version: 7.4.0.38 seems to be fine, apart from the index which, as with all upgrades, reverts to default settings.  I have extra columns for birth/christening date and place, extra wives, etc.  It's easy enough to add them back in though.

At least the problem with the font size has been sorted.

All very interesting.   So who is doing the pilot pages?  I'm surprised that the info on there is not on the normal IGI and vice versa.

The transcriptions for the pilot site are being done by volunteers - many of us have nothing to do with the LDS - we just want the data available asap!  I worked on the Cheshire data that is now online and am currently working on parish registers from the Isle of Man, Essex, more Cheshire registers, Warwickshire and Bristol.  Anyone can volunteer - and do as little or as much as you want to  - the more that do, the quicker the data will be available!

That is all god then. The Pilot site is getting better as I have found a few London burials I didn't find even on the LMA records on Ancestry.

I'd love to volunteer, but already transcribing other records.  How much time each day do you spend on the transcriptions?

Some days more than others, and I only do it when I have the time - it really is up to the individual how long they spend - no one will hassle you over it!  I arbitrate as well so a post 1812 baptism or burial batch might only take 5 minutes - fits in to a coffee break quite nicely.   A batch (typically one or two pages of a register) has a time limit of one week to be completed, but it saves your work as you go, and if you don't finish it, another indexer will pick it up and finish the remaining lines.   An early parish register will obviously take a lot longer to complete - they estimate that each batch is an hour's work, but in my experience that is over optimistic with some of the early pages and way longer than it would take to enter a post 1837 marriage page!

A new website appears to have been launched - seems to be the same records as on the pilot site but presented differently:

http://fsbeta.familysearch.org

Kelly, Birkenhead & Co. Kildare
Marshall, Luton & area
Reid, Co. Kildare & Dublin
Cox, Barnack Northamptonshire
Edwards, Pagham, Sussex & area
Scott, Roxburghshire & Perthshire
Mitchell, Warwickshire
Savage, Hampshire
