How long are GRO certs taking?

I ordered two on the 28th March, despatch date 6th April.

I ordered 4 more on the 5th despatch date the 12th so they may arrive next Friday or Saturday.

I ordered 2 certs from GRO on the 22 March still no sign of them. Ordered 1 same day from Lancashire reg office and it arrived within a few days!!!

Yep, I have done a bit of crusading on behalf of the local reg offices!  Bet lots of people have still ordered from GRO when they could have gone the local route. 

I TRIED to order mine from the Lancashire office and both Cheshire ones, but they were all saying unavailble when I tried, and I needed to order them right away, so I ended up having to use the GRO.

I was a bit frustrated I had to use the GRO as I have used Cheshire before & their service is great, much better than the GRO, and I had wanted to try Lancashire & see how good they were.

Two of the three birth certs I ordered on 25th March have just arrived. They are both dated 9th April.

The second(and last) of the ones I ordered on 24th March ,with an estimated despatch date of 31st March,arrived today.It is dated 8th April.

Thanks Jean & Carol, that's useful to me, it means I might get my 28th March order on Wednesday or Thursday (I hope )

I guess that means Friday or Saturday for my order of 29th March and much later for my 4th April order. 


I have a feeling they will arrive in the same post as the Wills (from York) and the divorce papers (from Kew).....
