« on: Friday 23 April 10 05:37 BST (UK) »
Anybody out there know of this couple, John Simpson and Agnes Orr. He died  1857, aged about 82yrs old, Torphichen Bridge end and Agnes must have died between 1851-57.
His parents were Robert Simpson & Marion Jeffrey.
Many thanks.
 :)

Hi there!

not sure if you have subscribed to Ancestry? I will check and see what i can find, though Scotland can be tricky.

Okay, ...there are 2 public family trees (perhaps you know already) that show this couple and 3 children;
Mary (b.1806),
Robert (b.1809 d.1873)
Jean (b.1812 d.1882)

Agnes is shown as dying in 1873....

None of the above has census (or other) supporting evidence, it is merely added by the owner of the family tree.

I'll keep looking around
 :)

Darren

Thankyou for that Darren. That Agnes  which died 1873 must be another Agnes.
There was talk that this John Simpson was related to Sir James Young Simpson but have not been able to find any connection as yet.

Hi. Thanks for your reply.  John Simpson & Agnes Orr's daughter Jean was my line. She married a James McKenzie in 1833, Larbert and  she died in 1882. Her and James are buried in Larbert. Their son Thomas came out to NZ and settled here.
Still looking for Jean's mother, Agnes Orr. Don't know a thing about her except she died between 1851-57.
Yes there was a Mary, born about 1824, She married a John Wilson.
Mary died in 1900 Avonbridge.
I have an Agnes, dau of John & Agnes born about 1823. She married a John McRuer, is this your line ?
John Wilson mentioned above was at McRuer's house in the 1881 census.
have quite a bit more info on McKenzie family just let me know.
Cheers
