the descendants of -

Catherine [nee Halliday] HOFFMAN
Born: abt 1916 Boggabri NSW

Married: abt 1954 North Sydney
              Arthur Sylvester Puckering HOFFMAN

Died:  abt Sept. 1973 Sydney, NSW

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated

Her death certificate would give you the names of any children ie if known to the informant.

An option to a certified certificate is a transcription - you need the reg number.

CATHERINE was living at Warriewood when she died.

Cando has given you the most proper direction to finding their children, if any, but the Ryerson Index does offer  lookup service for death notices which may also be revealing.

Possibly it was  asecond marriage for ARTHUR SYLVESTER

In 1941    HOFFMAN, ARTHUR SYLVESTER married GOMAN, MARJORIE JOYCE at   RANDWICK reg. 13016

Perhaps they divorced.

In 1951    GREEN, FREDERICK  married HOFFMAN ,MARJORIE JOYCE at BONDI reg. 14523

I am also following up on my family history. Arthur Sylvester Hoffman/Puckering is in my family history.
What I have found so far it:
Arthur Sylvester Hoffman born either 1884 or 1885. He had three children, Frederick Reginald Hoffman (1912?), Arthur Sylvester Hoffman (1915?) [to make things simpler, I will refer to him as Arthur Jr.) and Horace Livingstone Hoffman (1918). I have the birth certificate of Horace, and possibly Arthur Jr.
On Horaces birth certificate, it says that his father - Arthur Sylvester Hoffman - was born in Christchurch New Zealand. However I have not been able to find anything more on this.
Arthur Sylvester Hoffman had his three children with Blanche Hoffman (formerly Meale).
Arthur Sylvester Hoffman died in 1963 at age 79 of carcinoma of the stomach. He died in Western Australia. (Death certificate 103584J/1963) and was cremated on the 4th December 1963.

Arthur Jrs birth certificate number is 51512/1915. I found in the National Archives that Arthur Jr served in the military, enlisting in 1939. He was held prisoner of war on possibly two occasions, and also A.W.O.L once. He was eventually discharged as he was medically unfit (due to a head injury he received).
Arthur Jr married Marjorie Joyce Goman in 1941.

If you have any more information about the Puckering/Hoffman/Hallidays, I would love to know more!
