If you require more information about the Hewinsons / Witts-Hewinsons I have a full family tree for the Hewinsons from c1700 (prior to 1900 the family are historically located mainly in Gloucestershire, and, from 1876, South Wales as well, although nobody seems to know where the name originated from prior to 1700). The name is relatively rare - some 300 odd occurrences in 300 years. The Witts-Hewinson name started with Henry Witts-Hewinson, variously Henry Witts Hewinson and Henry Witts, born 1810 Bishops Cleeve, Glos., son of Charlotte Hewinson (singlewoman, 1788-1843) and a William Witts. He had 10 children all christened Witts-Hewinson between 1838 and 1856. One son, Eli, emigrated to New Zealand in 1873 on the "Star of India" with his wife and 3 children at the time, hence the name now there today, although the Witts element has been dropped in a lot of cases. Others Hewinson legs emigrated to the USA, Australia and South Africa, which accounts for the name in these countries today. Hewy
