HOLLIDAY - Scottish Border hurdle to jump! HELP !!

I'm new, so I apologise if the advice needed has been answered to death !!

My Great x3 Grandfather WILLIAM HOLLIDAY was born in Scotland. Relocated to Carlisle at some point.
Married at St. Cuthbert's, Carlisle in feb 1825 to CATHERINE GRAHAM

The Parish Marriage entry doesn't give any parents names. Only witnesses.
Parents may have even been deceased.

I think the Witnesses are related to the bride & groom (possibly siblings)
Thomas Holliday & Ann Graham

( I also noticed the Witnesses had handwritten signatures, where as mine both signed with an X.
Were older sibs educated, while the younger ones worked or looked after the house ?)

Anyway, I'm at a dead end as I don't know their parents names.

The Holliday's were most likely from Dumfries & Galloway - but I don't know which town & name is quite common there.

I have all the Census info I need from 1841 onwards.

I'm in Belfast, so I can't get to the Records Office.
Any advice would be great!

Have you checked on Scotlands People?  There only seems to be one baptism for william holliday between 1790 and 1810, but cant look for you - no credits.

I also have Holliday's in my family tree and some were known as Holliday and some were Halliday even within the same family!

I know SP has already been checked for you, but do you have an approximate date of birth for William?
Was his age given on the marriage certificate?
There are around 12 William Halliday / Holiday / Holliday entries in Dumfriesshire alone and a lot more for the rest of Scotland so any further information would be useful

There was a brother with him in 1851 so that's someone else to check.  Then there was your witness Thomas ... had he been the husband of Elizabeth who had a son Thomas 15 in 1841?  They seem to have lived nearby.

I'm a bit slow today.   Have just realised why the 2 of you seemed so far ahead of me!   Having looked at the 1851 census I now see why Audrey managed to isolate just one birth from the list of 12 I had.
Just tried to redeem myself by checking for a birth for James to cross reference the parents, but can't see anything

I haven't connected any other siblings yet - except James (born c1793), I'm afraid.

Where did you find the info? I'm just using free sites at the moment.

He was listed as a minor. Catherine was a year older & not listed as a minor, so I was thinking he was 20, so, 1805 or 1806
