Marriages - access to records in Cork
« on: Thursday 15 April 10 23:36 BST (UK) »
I am visiting Cork from NZ for 2 weeks and really wanted to search marriage records personally.  I have pinpointed the parishes.  I see that the Mallow Heritage centre has the records but am reluctant to part with 65 Euros for a 5 minute search when I am there!

Can I access the marriage records for Castlemagner & Archibulloge From 1830 - 1850 anywhere else.

Half the fun is searching yourself!  Valerie

Ahearn - Cork

You can search Catholic and Church of Ireland records without charge in Dublin. The location depends on the religion of the family - surviving Catholic records are available on microfilm in the National Library in Kildare St., Dublin (beside Dail Eireann), and Church of Ireland records are available in the Representative Church Body Library in Rathfarnham, Dublin 14.

If it's the RC parishes - Castlemagner is film Pos. 5009, and includes baptisms and marriages from May 1832 to Dec 1880. Could the other parish be Aghabulloge ?  If so details for that are on film Pos. 5007 and include baptisms and marriages from Jan 1820.

There may be access to the same records somewhere in Cork also - I'll leave that question for the Cork experts..

does that office in Adelaide st have church records ?

I believe Valerie  was looking for records before civil registration started (1830 - 1850).

Shane, i am not 100% certain if they do ? but at least they would give more solid info in where she would obtain it, for the cost of a phone call ? well worth checking.
