Hi hears53,
We need to narrow it down a bit !
Did John have a second christian name?
What were his parents names ?
Do you know his wife"s name ?
Any idea of his children's names ?

Hi hears53
There is only 1 marriage in New South Wales between a John and a May:
John Fitzpatrick m May C Wagner 1932 Sydney #4452/1932

and 1 Maureen:
Maureen Elizabeth Fitzpatrick m Ian James Chambers1956  Sydney # 13158/1956

Births are only open for privacy reasons to 1909 so Michael and Maureen wouldn't be listed.
Deaths are open to 1979.
There is only one death with those parents:
John Joseph Fitzpatrick d 1942 Nth Sydney - Michael and Catherine #28826/1942

Have you considered contacting the New South Wales Police Force to see if they can help you track Michael. If he was a policeman they may be able to help?

There are too many John Fitzpatricks on the Electoral roll to know which or if any are your John.
Maybe you could put a letter into the Sydney Morning Herald. The Melbourne Sun Herald has a column every Sunday called Desperately Seeking for people looking for lost relatives. I don't know if the Sydney paper has something similar but it's worth a try.

Good Luck in your search.
Regards
Alison

Hello hears53

I think Alison is offline now (11pm here) so I'll try and give you a couple of pointers.

You would be able to find Sydney Morning Herald and Mebourne Sun-Herald by googling; the Daily Telegraph in Sydney also has a column for people trying to find others.  (A tip - of you are looking for Australian links you may find it quicker to use www.google.com.au rather than the UK google).  You can probably find a contact for the NSW police also through google.

Alison may have some other contacts for you.

Good luck, Judith
