1901 Census shows family at Balnabriech Cottar House, (no street given).
That's because Balnabriech is a farm in the country, where there were no streets.

Don't seem to be able to find a later Census.
The 1911 census will not be made available for research until 100 years have elapsed, that is, in 2011.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Hi EV

Sorry I have been so long replying, life gets in the way of my correspondence sometimes. In the 1851 Wales census David Marrow is from Montrose Scotland.
Thank you very much for the information, James and Mary could be his parents. He was a seaman and had used to be on the coastal supply ships. He met his wife Elizabeth on a stopover in Shotton and settled there, where he became a shipwright.

Best wishes

Hi luciacw

I'm from the Emerald Isle and have just come back from a fabulous week in Montrose - what a beautiful town. My grandad was born in North Esk Road and we visited all the sites associated with my family. However ... we missed out on Sleepyhillock Cemetery. I noticed that you offered to help regarding Montrose (when on holidays from University) so I am emboldened to ask for your help.

I had an ancester (my grandad's 1st cousin) named Robert Moir Smith who was buried in Sleepyhillock Cemetery. He died on 16 Dec 1926 and there are five (5) people buried in the grave. Is there any chance that you, or any other kind soul, could have a look for the grave and let me have the inscription - or even a photo of the stone. I would really appreciate it.

BTW I notice that you use the Gaelic location Aonghas. Are you a Gaelic speaker?

Best wishes and thanks in advance.

Hello.
My great grandfather William Dunlop moved to Montrose from Glasgow in the 1920s. He joined the Merchant Navy and spent many years as a seaman. Where might he have joined the Merchant Navy from Montrose? Is there anywhere I can access information about his career? Thank you. Agnes

Hello. I was wondering if there is a connection with these witnesses at Lancelot Strachan and Catherine Sinclair Dunlops wedding in Montrose in 1923. They were Benjamin J D Moir and Jane Duncan Moir

Hi Scott, This is a quick message for us to get acquainted.

I wrote previously to rootschat.com that

"I had an ancestor (my grandad's 1st cousin) named Robert Moir Smith who was buried in Sleepyhillock Cemetery. He died on 16 Dec 1926 and there are five (5) people buried in the grave"

and this sparked your interest. Before I go any deeper into any possible connection would you let me have a few details about your parents, grandparents, gr/gr/parents - such as names etc. The reason I ask is because my further investigations indicate that we are not related, as Smiths, in any way - contrary to what I wrote in my initial posting -  but we might have a connection through the Morrison family. If so, then I certainly have information that will help you in your quest including census returns, marriage and death certificates and photos.

You wrote that you had a photo of the family plot. Would you post that picture and that might help me.

I look forward to your reply.

Best wishes

David Smith
