Montrose, Angus - Genealogy
« on: Thursday 15 April 10 18:55 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I'm a local. Currently a university student but when home for the Summer in June I would like to be of help to anyone looking for ancestors in my area. My original plan was to do some cemetery transcriptions but seem to have been foiled by this deceasedonline website ha  :P. I live in Montrose so if you have any queries there I would like to be of assistance.

Regards,
Lucia
Most of my family tree covers the Highlands of Scotland, London, Hertfordshire and the Midlands of England. I work as a researcher in a military archive.

Don't let that put you off. deceasedonline only tells you what is in the burial records. There could be lots of extra information on the stones. As far as I am aware there is no systematic record of post-1855 MIs in Angus, so that would be a very useful project to undertake.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

I am looking for death/burial information on Barclay Beattie and Ann Young (wife) whose children, Ann, Jean, John, Ann were born in Montrose Angus Scotland c 1805 - 1821.  I'm pretty sure Barclay and Ann Beattie were deceased before 1876 as they were born 1776-1781.  I think they had a daughter Ann Beattie who died young c 1805 - 1820.  I would greatly appreciate any help to add to my family tree.

Abi - Australia

PS Where/What is deceased online?

            Hi friends
was wondering how i can source some info on a Charles Hendry who was married to Ann Hendry nee Smith. My grandfather was born in Montrose on 30-o7-1881. His father was either a railway porter or could be carter. The addressis pretty vague but looks like 10 ---lesia st. Montrose .

                              thank you

     hi Ev
Thanks for the info. I'am trying to link some bits and pieces together. Sometimes the surnames are confusing. I take it that Dun Angus refers to Dundee as that was where i knew my g/father from. Will keep on going  and am much obliged.
