Thomas Harrison's Children
« on: Wednesday 14 April 10 12:59 BST (UK) »
My great uncle Thomas Harrison had 5 children between the years 1925 and 1941. All his children died within the first few years.

I would like to find out where their graves are located.

I believe Thomas was married to a Martha McLean in 1925 and they lived in Chalmers Street in Greenock.

Their children's names are:

Willliam Harrison (B: Sep 1925 D: Oct 1925)
Margaret Harrison (B: Oct 1926 D: Dec 1926)
John Harrison (B: 1928 D: Apr 1930)
Margaret Harrison (B: 1933 D: Nov 1938)
Alexander Harrison (B: 1941 D: Feb 1942)

Since all his children died would there have been an enquiry into their deaths? Could this have been reported in any of the Greenock newspapers?

Any information would be grateful appreciated.

Best Regards

Going by the listings in the BMD and news indexes I suspect that there would at least have been mention of the deaths (though possibly nothing more than the announcements)

http://www.inverclyde.gov.uk/community-life-and-leisure/local-history-and-heritage/newsplan?pg=1

I couldn't find any mention of enquiries (or similar) in the national archives catalogue
http://www.nas.gov.uk

Though your best bet would be checking the death record image for mention of a Register of Corrected Entries entry , this is usually abbreviated as R.C.E. this is present where a death has been the subject of some form of inquiry or has been altered after the original entry was created. You'll find more information about those on the scotlands people web site.

Thomas Harrison was my Grandfather! Married to Martha, they also had Martha, Thomas and May. May was my mother and moved on marriage to Whitehaven, where she died in 2007 aged 69. Sorry I cant help with the little ones graves. I know that Uncle Tommy died aged 30-40, I believe. Martha died aged about 70.

My mother, aged very young, remembers a black figure (ghost) sitting beside Alex's crib. The next morning he had passed away and her mother inconsolable.

Would love to contact you Paul :)
