COMPLETEDHelp with a London (Luton) search
« on: Thursday 08 April 10 21:23 BST (UK) »
I am wanting to trace a marriage certificate (for Frederick John Cross & Rose Ethel Allen) but all I know is that they had a son whose birth was registereld at Luton in 1917 and then that their son was married at St Stephens Claphouse Park in 1941. I am in Cumbria so need to research online / by post. Would you recommend I start looking for the marriage cert via Luton regisrty office or the church, given that I am assuming that his parents were married in the same place? Or can anyone suggest anything else I should try? Thanks ::)

Date range: say, 1910-1917

Click Search

Added: Scroll down to the Cross (in green) = Allen (in black) marriage

Click on the blue number to the left of the red Info box.

Hi

Good, isn't it  ;D

Somewhere on the site they have the coverage for how far they have indexed BMDs.  It's very well covered up to to about 1920 and there is some coverage up to 1930; somebody correct me if I'm wrong about that.

Gaie...and others ;D

Free BMD Coverage is shown on their home page by clicking on the word 'here' at the end of the second paragraph.

"The recording of births, marriages and deaths was started in 1837 and is one of the most significant resources for genealogical research. The transcribing of the records is carried out by teams of dedicated volunteers and contains index information for the period 1837-1983. PLEASE NOTE: WE HAVE NOT YET TRANSCRIBED THE WHOLE INDEX. A breakdown by event and year can be viewed here "
