Yes, I was curious as you have him born/baptised 1824 & still on the 1881 census so that makes him at least 57yo, not that people didn't travel o/s at that age, just erring more on the side that he didn't

I'd say that seeing you have Thomas & James both listed as born 1824 it's more likely you have a baptism of both of them on the same day which was quite common for parents to have more than one child baptised together but there is always the possibility they were twins.
It's possible he died in an institution or even gaol if he tried to kill his wife
