Fifer,
I don't want to be a burden, but if you get the chance..can you check on the details of my gggrandfather's birth in Scotland. I don't know if it's even the right area, but he was born March 17, 1856 in Clyde Glasgow Scotland. If you could do that it would be much appreciated. If not..I still appreciate the offer. Thanks so much!! :)

Hello Fifer,
I wondered if you could please look up 1841 census for Lanarkshire, I guess it would be Glasgow.
I'm looking for an Elizabeth McDougall (widow) with three children. Duncan born 1836, Elizabeth born 1838 and Archibald born 1840. Any help greatly appreciated.
Regards
Liz

Hi Angela, Thank you for replying, I'm not sure if I can narrow it down for you a bit. Elizabeth McDougall's youngest son Archibald was born Oct 1840 in Old Wynd, Trongate, Glasgow. Possibly the family could still be there. If not please don't trail through miles of micro film for Glasgow, I thought the FHS might have had a names index for 1841.
Thanks again for any help.

Fifer,

Could you do a look up in the BMD Indexes for me?

Agnes Bryden Young. She was born 1783 (+or- 1 yr) in Mauchline Ayrshire. I have her husband's death cerificate that says she died x months before her husband. Andrew Young died on November 25, 1862. He worked as a cow feeder and they lived on Wellmeadow Street in High Church, Paisley, Renfrew and with their daughter's family: Michael Cochrane. The the death must be in 1862. Her maiden name is also transcribed as Braidie or Brayden.

Question 2 is for the 1841 Census in Ayrshire:
Houshold of Michael Cochrane in Darvel, Loudon Parish, Ayrshire. Michael was a farmer and born in 1775 in Avondale, Lanarkshire. Wife was Agnes Mair born in Loudon in 1778. I belive the farm's name is Dyke Farm.

Thanl you very much!- Kristin :)
George William Burke.. my missing link!! son of Wm Burke & Mary Jane Stone/Morris
Shields & Milner- Patrington & Bilton, Yorkshire
Nixon & Bowers - Appleby, Broughton & Messingham, Lincolnshire
Hancock &Tyson- Tetford, Skendleby & Spilsby, Lincolnshire
Cochrane- Darvel, Loudon, Ayrshire
Yuill, Hardie- Paisley, Renfrewshire
Kennedy, Gardener & Clelland- Glasgow, Lanarkshire & Paisley, Renfrewshire

Census information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchive
