Hi Angela,
I don't know if this is enough information to search the 1841 census or not??
I am looking for the following people in Penecuik.  They are:
James Mitchel and his wife Mary Hossack and children Elizabeth, Mary Show, Joan, Lydia, Jamima, Thomas and Robina.

Thanks so much for your help,

Hi
I wonder if you may be able to help me.  After a very long search, I have finally traced my family back to Fife.  I'm looking for Thomas & Helen Paterson.  Helen was born in 1804 and I'm trying to find out where and when Thomas was born but I've exhausted all my sources and wondered whether the Fife census would help.
Most of their children were born in St Monance or Kilconquhar, the last being in 1848.
Are you able to check either the 1841 or 1851 census for me to see whether it can provide me with any further information
Any help is very much appreciated

Hi Angela,

This is such a kind offer!  I would really appreciate an 1841 lookup on

Thomas Meldrum and and his wife Elizabeth (Pirie), they would both be in their 70's, if still alive and probably in Newburgh, Fife.

And if it's not pushing it ...

A Charlotte Wright and family, born c 1835 in Falkirk with parents either Robert and Elizabeth Wright or James and Elizabeth Wright on the Falkirk 1841 census.

If it's not enough info, particularly for the Meldrums, please don't spend too much time.

Many thanks,

Lindsay

Fifer hi again,

I am still stumped in trying to find James Hendrie, I now believe he was born in Ireland in 1821, this Info comes from 1861 Cen in Old Monklands, Lanarkshire, (this under the name Houden..why..don't know) his age is given as 40, and also his Dth Cert in 1874, giving his age as 53, which agree's with Cen, Dth Cert or any of the various Cert's I have do not record his Parents or Birthplace, only Ireland.

His son Thomas aged 16 is also born Ireland, (1861 Cen) and I have to assume Agnes Green was his Mother, James must have been Married to her in Ireland, but he has another son James junior born in 1852, (to Susan Hendrie? I think) at Ayr, Ayrshire, and I know he was in Dickie's Land, George St, WALLACETOWN, ST QUIVOX, in 1856 as he has a daughter born there and then.

So if you're not confused with all this, could help me again, and look at the 1851 Cen for the above areas, and there's a possibility of their being in NEWTON ON AYR around that time too.

I'm still waiting for a reply from the Catholic Record Dept, of Columba House, Glasgow, but I'm not counting on getting any new Info from them.

I'd be very obliged if you could find time to look for me again.

Kind Regards

Jim.

Angela,

I sent you a personal message, but I'm not sure if it went, so I'll add a quote.

Thx for the sighting but, as you say the two you found don't look right, so could I impose on your good nature to look again in the 1851 Cen, for:

James Houden and Susan Clark nee pollock same details as before, it's possible he was married to a Agnes Green at that time too, I'm not sure, the name Houden is what they appear as in the 1861 Cen for some reason.

Could you also look 1851 Cen for a son Thomas Houden or Hendrie born Ireland, he would be aged around 5 at that time and a second son James Houden/Hendrie/Hendry born Ayr, ayrshire 1851 and would be a few months old then.

This is the last I'll ask of you as you've did enough for me already.

Kind Regards

Jim.
