Hi Angela,
I'm one of your Glasgow look-up requesters and would like to thank you for your post.  Please do not give another moment's thought to my request.  Don't expect you to go searching after that needle, that's for sure!

No apologies necessary!
Cheers,
~meg

Hi

Is it possible to have any pre 1881 census for the following:

William NESS born 1848 Wemyss, Fife.

He was the son of Andrew and Isabella/Isobel.

He married in Feb 1871 to Janet Campbell.

Many thanks

Hi Fifer

In 1881 William Ness and wife Janet were in New Kilpatrick, Dunbarton.  They married in 1871 In Anderston, Glasgow.

In 1881 Andrew Ness and wife Isabella were in Markinch, Fife.  They married in 1844 in Cameron.

I think Andrews parents were Walter Ness and Jean Chalmers who married in 1806 Wemyss.  I think Walter died in 1856 in East Wemyss and Jean died in 1867 in West Wemyss.

I've been told that Walters parents are Walter Ness and Catherine Beveridge who married in 1784 Wemyss.  From the IGI i found two children called Walter - one born 1786 and one born 1791.  The walter that died in 1856 says his age was 78 (1778) and parents Walter Ness and Catherine Chalmers.....

It gets to be a bit of a muddle.  This is my friends family tree and I just wanted to try and comfirm abit more for her.

Could you possibly look up my Great Grandfather Thomas Herd, I believe he was in Auchterderran in 1891.

I would like to find out the names of the people living with him, I believe he was born around 1866-1868.

I would also like to know any info on my Grandad, the only thing he was not born until 1912, but he was one of the youngest of at least 9. His father being Thomas mentioned earlier.

Thank you Ian Dawe.
Dawe, Daw, Herd, Andrews, Oats and many more but they my 4 grandparents

And married to fellow rootschatter sammie :D
