Angela,

That looks to be my Michael Cochrane.  He was born at the right time.  Born in Avondale, Lanarkshire.  he must have remarried.

If you see anything else when you look again it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Angela,  This lady and her family are proving very difficult to find, in fact impossible. I have the 1851 and 1861  census index for Glasgow and they are nowhere to be found in either of them.
Archibald was born Glasgow 1840 and married in Glasgow 1862, so where on earth has he disappeared to?
If you don't mind Angela, yes I would like to see those other McDougalls  The other two children that I know of were Duncan born 1836 and Elizabeth born 1838.
Thanks again for your help and your time
Liz

Hi Fifer

Is there any chance you could look up the ELRICK family for me on the census returns.  1861 and 1871 if possible.  Do they have earlier?

They were in Aberdeen (see previous postings by me).

Henry elrick was born c1834/5 (although i've had no luck on line finding his birth through scotlandspeople).
His parents were John ELRICK and May COUTTS (she died in 1857 age 64).
He married in 1856 to Isabella COPLAND.

Many thanks

I'm not sure if you will be able to help, but keeping my fingers crossed....in 1853 an ancestor from Yorkshire died in Helensburgh.....Maria Dunlop (nee Simpson) no idea why she was there - but have been unable to find her husband Robert Dunlop in any of the English census after that.

As she was born 1816 I would think he would have been about the same age....and he was a plasterer.  Would there be any indexes for the 1861 and 1871 census in and around that area that you could have a peek at please? They had one son that I know of - Thomas Simpson Dunlop born in Yorkshire in 1840...again have nothing on him - so possibly with his father.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.
