Can anyone identify this uniform please?
« on: Tuesday 06 April 10 11:06 BST (UK) »
The only clues I have are that it was probably taken around 1870.
Could be Ireland, Leicestershire or India.
Possibly 17th Reg.

Any help greatly appreciated

Sergeant, Infantry of the Line pre-1874.

The 17th had white facings, and he certainly has white facings to his collar.

Tell it in England those that pass us by, here, faithful to their charge, her soldiers lie.
