John Carey died in New York 1934 - mystery
« on: Tuesday 06 April 10 09:32 BST (UK) »
I know that John emigrated from Ireland to New York and he is on the NY census in 1930, occupation State Hospital Attendant. The home address was Central Islip, Suffolk County, New York.
He died in 1934 and his death certificate states the cause as heart failure.

The mystery for me is that he was only 32 years old and there is some vague recollection of an accident prior to his death. Sadly the certificate makes no mention of anything.

I have come to the end of my ideas and I would really appreciate some help.
Is there any way to find out about the accident and also which hospital he worked at?

Many thanks
Diana

Hi Diana:

Checking the internet, one possibility could be Central Islip State Hospital.

I'm not seeing anything regarding his death, but you might want to check that site just in case.

Perhaps you'd be interested in a photo of his grave.  The death cert should list his place of burial.  You can then create a memorial at http://www.findagrave.com and request a photo from a local volunteer.

You could try e-mailing the Central Islip library and see if they would be able to look-up an obituary or an article about an accident.  There's an e-mail address on here:  http://www.suffolk.lib.ny.us/libraries/cisp/
