Can anyone help with my paternal branch of this family? I have a John Gatiss b.c. 1816 Lamesley/ Ravensworth but no birth record. His two marriage certs give TWO father's names - James and Joseph - of which there is no sign in the area. All of the evidence I have suggests this is the same John but the recording of the father's name may have been an error?
I am aware of other branches but can't connect mine to them.
I have done quite a lot of research but this remains a real problem.
All ideas & advice gratefully received.
