Hi Mark

What evidence is given for these statements on these websites about Jacob and Catherine's birthplaces?

Quote
As a follow-up, the only information that I have been able to get from ancestry.com and familysearch.com states that Jacob Buck was born about 1751 to 1754 in St Marylebone and died in 1815 in Southwark, whilst Catherine Talbot was born in about 1755 in the same area of London as Jacob.

Is it just based on the fact that was the place they married because unfortunately that is only evidence that they were resident in Marylebone for three weeks prior to the marriage not that they were born there.

I would also like to know whether there is clear info about Jacob and Catherine being born in St Marylebone/Westminster. My own feeling is that Jacob Buck was probably from Southwark where there are a relatively large number of Bucks with wills at National Archive (but no Jacob unfortunately). Not sure where Catherine came from.  re Jacob may need to trawl through the baptism records for Southwark parishes not on IGI, if they are on A******Y / LMA site

Hello everyone

Thanks taylorwallace for the information in relation to Rebecca Buck and her marriages.

I did access the 22 Oct 1815 burial record for Jacob which led me to the 1754 birth date.

The Marylebone birth place for both Jacob and Catherine merely came from an IGI record posted on to the family search website which showed:

James Buck (birth about 1751 of St Marylebone, London) married Katherine Talbot (birth about 1755 of St Marylebone, London) on 12 Feb 1776.

I have since realised that this was probably just because they resided in the parish prior to their marriage.  Sorry about the anxious presumption/furphy on my part

Regards

Mark

 Hi

I have just located a baptismal record for a Jacob Buck on Ancestry who could be the father of Ann, Juliet Ann, Rebecca, Maria Ann & James.

The record shows that Jacob was christened in June 1754 at St Saviour's Church in Southwark, Surrey.
His parents are listed as James and Sarah, with James' occupation given as a Smith, the same as Jacob (when his son James was born in 1791 in the same parish)

Regards

Mark
