Thomas Hamilton, born County Armagh
« on: Saturday 13 March 10 21:11 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to find out the occupation of my great grandfather Thomas Hamilton, born 1815 in County Down, lived in County Armagh. In the census he's listed as a "J.P." and "other local off".

That was answered on another thread but J.P. is a position not really an occupation.

I'm trying to find more information about our great grandfather, who was a Justice of Peace in County Armagh around the 1830s. We're trying to find out what town he lived in and why he immigrated to Michigan. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Hi my name is Keeley
I think that we may share this relative in common. If it is Thomas Hamilton b. circa 1815 from  Armagh Ireland. Presbyterian Religion. If he married an Elizabeth Hewitt and moved to West Bay City Michigan in approximately 1880 from Seneca Haldimand Ontario Canada.

I'm currently looking to try to find out more about Elizabeth Hewitt and Thomas Hamilton myself. I may have more information on their children from the Canadian side. I know he moved to the USA for work purposes. A document I found indicates that he and Elizabeth married in Ireland in 1837.

Please feel free to reach out to me if this sounds like your ancestor
