Does anyone know if the female name 'ELVIRA' is sometimes used instead of the name Elizabeth?

What prompted the question?  It would have to be a very poor transcription to make Elvira out of Elizabeth.
Godden in East Sussex, mainly Hastings area.
Richards in Lea, Gloucestershire, then London.
Williamson in Leith, Vickers in Nottingham.
Webb in Bildeston and Colchester.
Wesbroom in Kirby le Soken.
Ellington in Harwich.
Park, Palmer, Segar and Peartree in Kersey.

Sorry, should have been more specific.  I've an ancestor who appears on censuses as Elvira.  She was born about 1814, give or take a few years and I haven't found any parish birth records for her as yet.  The nearest are entries for Elizabeth and I just wondered if Elvira could be used as a variation eg a 'pet' name. It was just a long shot, in case someone else had found something similar.

ah, the name thing, this has driven me nuts while doing research, several relatives possibly changed their names totally different from one census to another, either error blunder or intentional, though I did follow one from birth certificate to a will which showed a change in name, why?, who knows!... ???

I have come across the name  Elvira mentioned a few times while looking at various records.So I do think it is a name and a nice one too ;D
