John E Adamson d 1858
« on: Wednesday 31 March 10 05:46 BST (UK) »
John E Adamson died 11 Jun 1858 at the age of 59 in Kingston, Ontario.  He was born in England and his family moved to Iowa, USA after his death.

Is there any way of finding his cemetery?  I've tried Find A Grave but it doesn't seem to have become popular with  Canadians as yet - only 92 Adamsons for the entire country!  Are there any other sources available or any way of looking up an obituary for him?

Thank you!

Cataraqui Cemetery is a very large and beautiful old cemetery serving Kingston and area.  I had occasion to ask for a lookup and they were helpful.

In Ontario, we have the Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid which was started back in the late 60's.  It has over 3  million interments.

Thank you! Is there a way to look up names on that site or should I contact them directly and ask? I hunted around a bit but didn't see a list or search engine on it.

Karen's link (THANK YOU, Karen!) gave me this: http://www.islandnet.com/ocfa/search.php?page=2&surname=adamson&county=Frontenac

which is a list of 8 Adamsons but not "mine."  Is the list compreshensive or is there still a chance my fellow is there?

Thank you both!  I need all the help I can get, lol!

I emailed the Cataraqui Cemetery with my request - there is no online index of who is buried there.

The OCFA site is great but  I don't think it is comprehensive for Cataraqui Cemetery.  Names that I was looking for are recorded in their files but not in the OCFA.
