Evan Jenkins, Crugybar, Lampeter - Help please???
« on: Tuesday 30 March 10 23:22 BST (UK) »
My father Ernest Glyn Jenkins was born (illegitimate) in Conwil Caio in March 1923 to a Mary Jenkins (b. Llandovery 1906), daughter of Evan Jenkins (b. abt. 1870, Lampeter) who was a farmer at the time of her marriage in 1940.  All the information that I have seems to point to the family being in Crugybar, Lampeter but I have now come to a dead end.  Can find no baptism/christening records for my father, although there are a few leads for Evan, my grandfather but I am unsure which 'Evan Jenkins' census information is accurate!  It is possible that Evan married a local girl - Martha and they had quite a few children.  I believe that Mary had an older sister called Sarah who was the local midwife for years and years.  Can anyone shed any light for me here please?  All suggestions would be most appreciated.  Thank you.

Have you looked for the family on the 1911 census? Look-ups aren't allowed, but you can find out an amount using the free search & the tips below

Thank you for you suggestions!!  I had found the 1901/1911 data but wasn't too sure if I had the correct Martha.  I have sent off for the relevant certificates now, so all should be revealed either way shortly!

Thanks once again - your time and efforts are truly appreciated.

hello.

I know that your post was made a while ago but I've only just found it. I haven't got the information with me now but here's what I can remember;

I know the History of this family quite well. I am a descendant of Evan Jenkins and Martha. They had 8 children: Ellen(possibly Eleanor), Sarah, Thomas, David John, Margaret Jane, Mary, Emily Matilda and Ieuan Ajax.

Sarah was an un-married nurse.
The last five children were born at Llwynrhos which is a farm just outside Farmers, Pumpsaint. ( I don't know wheather you're local to the area or not.)
Emily Matilda married a Jeremiah Jones and had two children. (one of which still owns Llwynrhos)
Evan and Martha are both buried in a small graveyard within half a mile from Llwynrhos.

I have a lot of information on Martha Ajax's family aswell.

Let me know if this has helped you or you want any more information.
