Can anyone enlighten me on the occupation of "drill instructor" listed on my gggf's 1861 death certificate- census records list him as a tailor, and his wife's death certificate  describes him as "tailor journeyman". Since he died aged 44yrs of tuberculosis, a frequent problem with tailors (phthisis on certificate),  it seems an unlikely job for him to try, especially in Cheltenham!
