Belmont Castle, Meigle.
« on: Tuesday 23 March 10 18:16 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone have any information about this castle?

I have a James Alexander Taylor who died in 1949.

~His usual residence is listed as Belmont Castle, Meigle.

I know that it is currently a residential care home for the elderly. Was it a care home in 1949??

Thanks

The care home is run by the Church of Scotland Social Work Dept. Head office 121, George Street Edinburgh.  They will probably have records about your relative somewhere in their archives. I was a officer in charge of one of the homes in the 1980s and I am almost certain that a husband and wife looked after Belmont Castle at that time.
Good luck with your search

I was aged 6 and lived at Belmont Castle in 1947.  My parents were managing the retirement home at that time.  I have some old photographs (somewhere!) that show my sister and me at a table with some male residents.
