Could you see if Joseph Hurst born 1888 in St Helens, Lancs is registered as footballer? His hayday would be 1900-1920 ish

Only just spotted your offer re pro footballers. Would be interested to know what you can find on my cousin Thomas Albert Parker
(called Albert) who played centre half for Manchester United and Bristol City sometime in the years between about 1927/8 and 1939/40.

He doesn't appear in the book - sorry

It might be that he didn't play in the Football League as only those who played for the first team are listed.

Thomas Albert Parker was b. Eccles on 22 Nov 1906 and died in 1964
He played centre half for:
Morton (non-league)
1930-32 Man Utd
1932-33 Bristol City
1934 Carlisle Utd
Stalybridge Celtic

Probably not a professional as Queens Park FC, Glasgow, based at Hampden Park, were an amateur team, but were up there with the best of the teams in Scotland many moons ago.

There's a chance, via family lore info, that my father, John Ross WEBSTER, b. 1901, played for them.

Also some suggestion that he had a trial for a NW English club .....
