Are you still offering "look-ups" for professional footballers - I see it is a while since anything was posted on this thread?
William Stevenson, born Kilmarnock (or Glasgow in some census returns!), in 1881 apparently played for Preston North End in the eary 1900s, and may have played for Liverpool too.
I would be grateful for any information!

Thanks Gadget - I would appreciate any information!  However, it seems that it is not the William Stevenson I quoted, born 1881, but his son, another William Stevenson, born 1906 (ish) who rumour has it played for PNE.

wonder if yu could look up and see if there were 2 brothers by the name of McCann or McGoohan who played for Celtic FC, probably around the 1900 mark.

Hi There,

Family story is that 2 brothers palyed for Celtic.  The story is that 2 grandson's of John McGoohan played for Celtic.  That would probably McCann or McGoohan.  However there has been a problem with the name McGoohan and all its interpretaions, so may be a McGowan....if you know what I mean.  Its down to the Irish accent....I dont have the first names tahough, sorry..

The only Stevenson I can find that played for Preston was James Stevenson, Born Bonhill, August 1875,

He played for Dumbarton twice, Preston North End twice, West Bromwich Albion and Bristol St George.

If you think this is your man I will be able to provide further info
