There is a birth registered of a George King,  June q. 1855 .... vol 2a  page 384 Maidstone.

I will see if I can find him on a census.

This is the only one on the 1861 that I can see that was down as born in Maidstone although the age is out a little but thats not unusual on the census's.  ::)

RG9/500/166/5  living

21 George St. Maidstone, Kent.

John King h.m. 45  Sawyer Timber   b Shearness, Kent.
Esther wife b Maidstone
William 15
John 13
Isabella 12
George 9
Silas 7

If you think this might be the family you can get the birth certificate to confirm or not  fathers name and occupation.

Find out who your 2 x gt grandfather married.

If it was in Ireland you need to post a request for a look up on the Ireland Board.

The marriage certificate  should give his fathers name and occupation.
