Hi PW, thanks for your interest, there are a couple of excellent sites if you google that give the history of the Currie Clan, a quote from both Electric Scotland and the Clan Currie site "according to Derek Thompson, Professor of Celtic Literature Glasgow University, the origin of the name Currie dates from the fall of the Gaelic order in the 18th century. During this period many old Highland names were anglicized or an English name was chosen that had the faintest sound of the Gaelic one The name MacMhuirich (pronounced MacVurich )began to appear in many forms including MacMureach, MacVurich and Mac Curry then eventually took on the form of the present day Currie and other related spellings such as Curry, and Currey. The founder of the race was Muiredach O'Daly (1180-1222) an outstanding poet of his time who studied at the famous Irish College, the O'Daly's were established in their literary role as a bardic family by the 12th century. there's more if anyone is interested. So it would seem all the spellings of the name go back to one and those in Scotland probably back to Islay, the stronghold of Donald the Lord of The Isles , Muiredach fled to Islay after upsetting the O'Donnel Chief and the native Scots claimed Muiredach as their own. There seems to be no evidence to connect the Currie's of Dalserf to the other Currie's in area because of poor records, unless anyone else has any hard evidence or suggestions to get us further back, I think this must be as far as we can go.

thank you all for your interest, Nikitah.
