Moon Street, Liverpool
« on: Saturday 20 March 10 18:44 GMT (UK) »
I would love to know when Moon Street in Liverpool was demolished.  Was it bombed during WWII or had it gone before that?  It was near Brownlow Hill, somewhere opposite the old workhouse.  Thank you!

It was listed in 1938 Kellys - but only two households - Dykstra at 33 and Jones at 43

It ran south off Crown Street. If you google Freedom Close  :-\ it is on top of Moon Street.

Thank you, yes I have found it on an old map, I just wondered when and why it was demolished.

My family lived in Moon street number 35 their surname was Dykstra, they lived there from they came here from Holland, one of them James Dykstra was living there with his father Peter and his mother Mary and siblings before he was killed in action in WW1 1914/15
My dad was also born in the same house in Moon street in 1935

I'm unable to give a date for the street's demolition, but where it once stood is now part of the University campus - a mixture of buildings, and a car park.

Thank you Hollander.
Yes, I have visited the site.
I expect it was demolished after WWII.

A sighting of Moon Street in 1960:

Liverpool Echo, July 8th 1960 has an article about someone gaoled for six months and disqualified for five years for driving when disqualified  and uninsured (those were the days!)

The offender's address is 4 Moon Street, Liverpool.
