the father James was an engineer - Liverpool was the busiest Port in the world at that time in the mid 1800's ...so he probably came for the money - or - if he was a Ships Engineer , he may have been transferred from Dundee ( another busy seaport) to Liverpool by the Shipping Company he worked for. I suppose we will never know ...looking at the addresses of Leece Street and Conway Street , he was quite comfortable money wise ... :)

It will amuse my son to find out his father has engineers and a master plumber as forebears . The practicality gene has passed me by .

Hi Skeeter
              I'm from Crewe and Nantwich area, but I'm out in Europe working and living in Hungary, been out in Europe for the last 22 years, Edwin had one son Allan Desmond who died in the war in 1943 on return from a bombing raid in Germany plane came down in Lincolnshire and there is more to this story which I can tell you about if you don't already know, and I believe 3 daughters, 2 died at birth and the 3rd daughter I believe named Joyce, is that your Mum, am  I right or not?.
