Hi Alibaker :

Thanks for this reply.  I'm not quite sure where this Edmund fits.  Have you anything more about him?

This was surely the one found by Wendy P in the first reply.

I see that no one has mentioned (in 1841)

Edmund LUPTON 25 AgLab
Sarah 20
Thomas 1

or
Harriet LUPTON 15 FemServ

or
John LUPTON 65 AgLab
Edmund 15

Interestingly, there was a Thomas LUPTON (c1814, Dunston) still alive on the 1881 census, as well as the one who died in 1854 aged 42 .... was he the son of John or the son of Edmund I wonder ... both seem to have been baptised in 1812.

I guess the one in Martin in 1881 was the one who married Anne COOK in Timberland (less than a mile away) in 1834 ... I've found them in 1841, in Martin

Thomas LUPTON 25 AgLab
Ann 25
John 5
Betsy 2
Sarah 6m

Here they were in 1851 (in Martin)

Thomas LUPTON 39 AgLab, Dunston
Ann 39
Elizabeth 11
Sarah 10
Thomas 8
Richard 7
Charles 4
Susan 2
Harriet 4m

also in Martin
John LUPTON 15 Farm Lab

Thomas LUPTON was buried at Martin 24 June 1891 age 79.  He was the one who married Ann COOK ... she was buried at Martin 11 Oct 1890 age 78.  I believe he was the son of John LUPTON and Elizabeth (the names of his first two children).

One of the Thomas LUPTONs baptised in 1812 was buried at Dunston 1 Nov 1854 aged 42.

As Thomas was living with his mother, Elizabeth, widow of Edmund, in 1861, I think it would be safe to assume that it was the son of John and Elizabeth (baptised 23 May 1812) who died prematurely.

I'm afraid that Wendy was mistaken ... Thomas was not with Elizabeth in 1861 so I would assume that the one that died was son of Edmund and Elizabeth.

A possible father of your Thomas, John LUPTON was buried at Dunston 29 March 1853 age 79 - the 1851 census gives John's birthplace as Dunston.  This would suggest he was the John LUPTON bap  29 Sept 1773, son of John and Mary.
