Thank you very much for getting back to me.
With the Furfey's that came to US - you have to watch out for names - Both brothers - James b 1824 Ireland and Hugh b Oct 1827 Ireland married an Ann. James married Ann McGuiness, Hugh married Anna Maginniss(sp) and both brothers ended up naming their children the same. Drove me crazy on Census.
James Furfey b 1824 is my gg grandfather, he died 1900 Cambridge, MA. His wife, my gg grandmother, was Ann McGuiness b 1825 Ireland, she died 1891 Cambridge, MA.
James's father was William Furfey b 1788 Ireland. He died 8/15/1854 Cambridge, MA. James's mother was Elizabeth McGee born Ireland died on voyage over here(found that out from her son's(Patrick) record at Tewksbury, MA State Hospital . William's father was James Furfey and his mother's first name was Mary. This info was from a death listing.
What I figured out was that William and Elizabeth Furfey had:
James b 1824 married ?, died 1900 Cambridge, MA, Hugh b 1827 married 1856 died 1898 Cambridge MA, William b 1829 married 1861 died 1901 NY, Isabella b 1833 never married died 1872, Mary b 1836 never married died 1888 and Patrick b 1839 married 1860 died 1910 . All children born in Ireland.
When I first found them on the 1850 Census for US there were other family members living with them. Cornelius, Richard and a Michael. Never found out how Cornelius was involved in the family - brother,, cousin or whatever. A woman did contact me and thought that Michael and James b 1824 were cousins. James opened up a Mat Manufacturing business in Cambridge, MA and Michael worked there and lived next door to him. There were also Furfey's that opened a Mat Manufacting plant in New York. This is what I was trying to figure out - who were cousins. Was William b 1788 an uncle to the Furfey's in NY. That is why I would love Ireland birth records.
I have more names and ,marriages and deaths if you would like them.
