You are not alone Gadget, I shall stand feeling guilty next to you!  :-\

No problems with my new W7 laptop either, except that the package I used (NOF) for my website is no longer compatible.  No problem though, solution was to download and start using a free open source package and has forced me to rethink and update my website.  No bad thing!  ;D ;D

I am loving W7 and loving my new super speedy laptop.  I even take it to work to use now rather than the creaky old Local Authority rubbish I have for my job!  My productivity has gone through the roof  ;D ;D ;D ::) ::)

I'll vote for W 7 as well, I got my laptop with Windows 7 professional and apart from one program, Adobe Audition every thing runs well. the Adobe runs well on Windows 7 basic mode so I have no trouble.  Cleaner and faster.  Definitely the best OS they have come up with so far.........

After further discussion Epson have solved my Scanner problem (DX6000 'all in one')  by link for installation of new driver suitable for my 64 bit Win 7.

Hi Abiam & All,
My desktop (with XP) has crashed. Last time I had it repaired, my wonderful technician told me that when this happened, it was probably time to get a new one.

Talked to him this morning and mentioned compatability problems, in particular with family history programmes and databases. He foresaw that there'd be many folks like me who struggle with the technical side of computers, and so still has a good supply of XP operating systems.

I've also been reading about comapatability problems elsewhere. One that worries me is that of Skype with Win7, as I use Skype for all my phone calls,

So.....now I have to decide between Win7 professional it seems, and XP which I love......and will open all my disks in which I have made a considerable investment.  Decisions, decisions, decisions......what to do.......   ???

Alan & everyone,

Will Win7 Professional run Outlook Express?

I have Win7 Home Premium and would gladly upgrade to Win& Pro if it runs OE.

Any comments, advice very welcome.
Thanks, charlotte

Outlook Express will not run in W7 - it is not supplied with Windows now and has been replaced with an email program which is part of the "Windows Live" group of products.

Thank you Falkryn.  I have Win7Home and was hoping if I upgraded it might accomodate OE.

I am trying to escape from webmail and get an email program that
 1. allows me to download my mail rather then leave it on the server
 2. allows me to sort/file mail into folders on the email program .

The various webmail programs I've tried to investigate don't allow these things.

About folders. Type folders in the question box & click continue.

It works fine with Win7, I run Pro 64bit.

Oh & its Free!
