One other thing I meant to add was that my husband and I will be coming over to the UK in June to attend a wedding and I'm hoping to work in a trip to the appropriate places in Scotland (Auchterarder and Brackenridge, Lesmahagow) to hopefully find Peter and Janet Hutton's and Irvine and Helen Dent's gravesites and also if possible their parish churches or anything else of interest.  Rachel

Well thanks again Ev as with your info you've been able to make it possible for me to hopefully find the graves of my ancestors and put the jigsaw together.

Rachel :)

Hi rachelnz,

My name is John Jackson and my family originates from Lesmahagow, in fact John Jackson born Lesmahagow in 1717 is my 6th Great Grandfather, Irving Dent's Uncle.  I have a picture of John's memorial stone which lies in the Old Kirk Graveyard in Lesmahagow - Irving and his wife Helen are buried there also.  I took the picture when I was there last year.  I have a load of information on my family and would be delighted to share any useful information with you.  It was Irving Dent who was key to me confirming the link between the Steel's and the Jackson's and of course, the Convenanter's of Lesmahagow.  I have a transcription of an article which appeared in an old newspaper about 1885, which mentions Irving quote "Some said Irvine Dent, farmer in Brakenridge, was there with a sword which had been at Bothwell Bridge".

I would be delighted to hear from you and perhaps we will be able to exchange information.

Kind Regards,

John
