There is a marriage entry for a Thomas Massil Hall, one of the female names is Christiana Curtis, Q2 1864 Pontefract 9c 69, so presumably Mary and Daniel's mother wouldn't be Christiana.

Hi Mary,
That is interesting information. I have a birth certificate of one of Daniel Burgess Hall's children, his children have the Burgess in their name. I seem to recall reading about a Elizabeth Matsey born Rawcliffe not sure if this is a clue.

I visited York register office and purchased Daniel's marriage certificate, his father is listed as Thomas Burgess Hall (Hawker)
Daniel married Elizabeth Brown daughter of George Brown (Hawker) Elizabeth was born a Scullacoates Lane, Hull.
Witness at wedding is James Swales and Jane Holiday. Residence at time of marriage is Walmgate, York. Thankyou for your help,
Regards Jan
