This explains everything now.

From family stories and info inc. 1911 census the following are facts

Doris M Smith (my Nan) was born March 1913 and was registered late so she was give birthday of 22/3/1913 when apparently it was 15/3/1913.

She had a half sister 'Elsie' (Lillian Gay)

Sorry I should have mentioned this but I got so confused and blinkered that it must have been Bradshaw or Sheargold and didn't look further - but you're so good you didn't need that! ;)

A possible for 1901, though where was 6 yr old Elsie? (She may have been in Aston as "niece" of Sarah WHITEHOUSE, wid, 68 b Birmingham: RG13/2855/160/6).
