Another one I need help with

I have found out that my Grandmother who died in 1976  in Salford was laid to rest in a family plot but my mother has long since lost the grave papers. I know that my siblings would like to be laid to rest with her if possible one day. Is it too late to find out if we still have the right or is there anyway we can replace the paperwork? Mum is 78 and couldn't cope with such details but she would be happy for us to sort it out?

Tierneylass if it were me i'd contact the cemetery direct for advice.

Hi

If you contact the cemetery and give them the info that you know then they may be able to help you find where she is buried.

Contact the cemetary offices direct.  They will be able to tell you whether the "family" plot is for two or more burials.  And who actually bought the plot originally.  Also in these circumstances the plot will go via the regular hereditary lines such as eldest son etc.

There is often a misconception around this term as often people will only buy a double plot, for themselves i.e. husband & wife.

Hi again folks....

Another problem! It turns out Agecroft Cemetery have no record of any burial for my nan.....I think we have the wrong cemetery. According to my sister she was buried with her husband who was allready deceased so my nan must have purchased the plot years before.
All my sister can remember is that it was a Lawn Cemetery in the Salford area, as she remembers getting upset at the graveside as there were dead flowers in the soil from another plot.

Can anyone think of any other places fitting this description...the only Lawn cemetery that comes up is Althrincham and i know thats not it?

 Hi Tienrylass if she lived in Salford try Weaste Cemetary.

Then there is  Southern Cemetary Peel Green Cemetary

If you have a look at the link below you might be able to find the record

http://www.burialrecords.manchester.gov.uk/GenSearch.aspx

you will need to pay for credits to find the exact plot location but you will get the name of the cemetery and burial date for free.

HI i would try contacting Agecroft cemetery as i think they hold all records for Salford burials. Also some are held at Salford local history library, but think these are older ones? Then you may want to try Cemsearch but this is a paid site and will cost you £6 for a surname search, but saying that Agecroft will charge you i think a min of £15 to. The library records are free.

Oh! and if your family was Roman Catholic and you think they may be in a church yard, you could try contacting the Salford diocese as i should think they would know where to look if not in a council owned cemetery. After saying that they could be in Moston cemetery ( ST. Joseph's ) as that is the nearest privet Roman Catholic cemetery ?
