In 1923 Odling, William James to Hall Barlow, Hilda Alice reg.1654

brother, William James Hall ODLING, who probably also grew up and married in Qld). MARENGO

Here is the marriage of the brother you mention.

There are a number of ODLINGs at TOOWONG including one ROBERT with the middlename HALL

ODLING, ROBERT HALL aged 70 d. 2/10/1933

He is with 2 others, One his wife SARAH MARIA

And another GLADYS
Sue 

I hope I'm not stating the obvious here, but:
Robert Hall Odling, and Sarah Maria are the parents of William James.
Harriet Mary Odling is Robert Hall's daughter, by a previous wife, Mary.
It is Mary to whom I'm related. (My father's cousin).
This is why I thought my best chance was with Harriet's descendants, but I accept there may not be any.
Right now I'm just trying to catch my breath.

I'm not sure if I can be of any assistance,  I am the Granddaughter of Reginald William Trevor Odling and Great-Niece of (the late) Athol Hall Odling, David Hall Odling and Mark Powell Odling, and in turn, am the Great-Granddaughter of William Hall Odling (b. 1897 in New Zealand) and Hilda Alice Odling (nee: Barlow). Which in turn again makes me the Great-Great-Granddaughter of (the late) Robert Hall Odling via his marriage to (the late) Sarah Maria Odling.

Unfortunately this doesn't help you much with your search for descendants of Alan Henry Chantler as I believe he is a descendent of Robert Hall Odling's first marriage. However, if I can be of any assistance, please feel free to contact me.

I have not looked at any more details, such as location of burial etc.
My husband is a decendant of Henry Chantler and Jane Stoddart Ferguson. via Amelia Buchanan Chantler.

Hello, this may be irrelevant but I am a Chantler, I was born and brought up in England. I've recently taken an interest in finding my roots The odd thing is, my fathers side are Chantlers and my mothers side have the family name Hall.
