Hugh Shanks, Cotton, Bangor

I'm sorry Walter did not appear. I hope the two shown above are new additions.

I had a grand father named Walter who lived in Kilwinning, he was born round about 1878 and had a brother named Hugh.
I also had family in the Bangor. Nth. Ireland but don't know much about them.

Thanks
Robert Shanks

Hello Ladyissy,

I have been looking at http://www.familysearch.org and found a Hugh Shanks and Mary Verner who had a son Hugh Shanks born on 7th May 1864 at Comber, Co. Down. It appears that this Hugh died at a young age as Hugh and Mary had another son, Hugh, born on 29th July 1869 in Co. Down but there is no mention of a specific place other than saying that he was born in Co, Down. I have a second site for you Ladyissy, http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~rosdavies/SURNAMES/Sh.htm

I hope that this is of assistance to you. Best Wishes, Chris

Good Morning Isobel,

Unless you have more that one personal e-mail address it was acquired by you giving me your address. I have a secret weapon called Random Selection which is a bit like the machine that picks lottery numbers. In my case no machine - just my brain, a pen and piece of paper. My attempts at Random Selection are in their infancy but should improve as I move into my second childhood. I wonder if the system could be developed for finding missing ancestors.

I hope you are keeping well, Chris
