Has anyone any ideas please as to why my Screen keeps flicking back to my Google Home Page (while typing this short message~Google Home page has just blocked this screen every few seconds).

This even happens when viewing the www. The problem is intermittent. This has only happened since I downloaded Google Chrome which I did not like and uninstalled it.

I run all the scan problems etc. and so far they are clear.

Help please.

It sounds like your browser has been hijacked and it is being redirected to Google - which is a bit strange because normally malware will direct you to a spurious website rather than Google.  It could be that you did have some malware and it has been partially disabled by your anti-malware program but it is still partially active but instead of redirecting you to a spurious website it redirects you to Google by default.


Check that the folder C:\Program Files\Chrome no longer exists.

Download CCleaner and run the Registry cleaner.

Download MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and run a scan just in case you have a BHO (Browser Help Object) that is redirecting your browser.

Another suggestion

If you are using a laptop and there's a touch sensitive pad in front of the keyboard to use as a mouse (when a mouse isn't present) then you may wish to consider disabling it if it's not needed.

I've encountered problems where the pad is preset to perfrom certain actions when a particular gesture is detected. Frustratingly in my case the pad kept registering that I wanted to go back and would reload the previous page.

Normally that only happens when actually using the pad but if you were in the habit of resting your thumb below the spacebar you might be unitentionally grazing the pad as you type.

 Downside, If one ran a scan with malwarebytes would it interfere with McAfee or can it be used just once?

It shouldn't do but you know how quirky anti-virus programs can be.

I am using a desktop so laptop issue is one less but thank you I will try and remember that as I am considering buying one.

I have run the malaware program and it is still clear. I have a free version of Avast on this PC also Adaware. I cannot see any google chrome shell left.

I would like to know how easy it is to run and read the results of using Ccleaner please? (In simple english please as I am not very clever.

Before you run the Cleaner program make sure you save certain cookies such as rootschat otherwise you will have to enter your passwords at certain websites.  Click on Options and then Cookies and select the ones you want to keep.

CCleaner removes temporary files (the Cleaner program) - therefore it is a good idea to let it remove whatever it finds.  Make sure you save specific cookies first though.

The Registry button will ask you to make a backup of the keys and values before it deletes them.  By default it will suggest a name cc_yyyymmdd_hhmmss.reg which is todays date and time.  If something goes wrong after you delete the entries from the registry then all you have to do is double click that file that was saved and it will put the keys and values back in the registry.
