Mount Juliet Garden, Thomastown, Kilkenny
« on: Tuesday 09 March 10 18:54 GMT (UK) »
I have been researching my family tree recently and found out that my Aunt Baby Melia from Mullingar married someone from Mount Juliet Garden my father Lawrence Melia says that the person she married had an English name, but his memory is getting worse with old age and cant remember much.

She was born in about 1920 (not exact) so probably got married in the 40's to 50's, but again cant be sure.

So if anyone has any history on the Garden's and anything that might help me, I would be very grateful.

Thank you John Melia

Hi.
Mount Juilet, today is a 5* Hotel,  just outside Thomastown. before 1990 (?) it was a private family, it was owned by an English Family by the name McCalmount.

The Hotel has load of land attached to the Hotel. I remember when i was about 6 years old, (i am now 44) going there for a walk with my Grandmother, who lived in Thomastown. (i Live in Essex, UK).

There is a book called Mount Juliet- A History, which gives you a brief History
