any census
« on: Sunday 20 March 05 19:11 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help me.

My Grandfather was born 1901 Wilfred Radcliffe.
His father was Fred Radcliffe was married to Harriet Radcliffe maiden name Jackson.
I have found Freds parents were Squire Radcliffe and Sarah Ann ?
I havent got anything else really.
I never knew my family so I haven't a lot to go on.
I have found out that Fred and Harriet had a lot of children but only know of Ethel, Wilfred, there was more before Ethel but the census has only given her and Wilfred, also there were others born after 1901 how do I find these.
I could really do with some help plzzzzzzzzz anyone :-\
thank-you  ;D

Hello and welcome!!!

It's always difficult when you start, but I'm sure people here will try to help you along the way.

How about this possibility 1901 census.  As this gives the mother-in-law it will help others tracing the family back hopefully  ;D

Address: Mark Street, Chadderton  Lancashire

This is the most likely Fred for 1891:

RG12/3302   Oldham  , Oldham Below Town  Folio    84

Radcliffe, Squire 55 Ovenden, Yorkshire Head CABINET MAKER
Radcliffe, Sarah Ann 42 Snoring, Norfolk Wife

Radcliffe, John Jas 22 Bolton, Lancashire Son LABOURER IRONWORKS
Radcliffe, Squire 20 Bolton, Lancashire Son  COTTON FACTORY OPERATIVE
Radcliffe, Fred 18 Manchester, Lancashire Son     Do.
Radcliffe, Robert 16 Manchester, Lancashire Son  COTTON SPINNER
Radcliffe, Emma 14 Manchester, Lancashire Daughter  COTTON FACTORY OPERATIVE
Radcliffe, Alice 12 Bacup, Lancashire Daughter
Radcliffe, Richard 5 Oldham, Lancashire Son
Radcliffe, Grace 1 Oldham, Lancashire Daughter

Pauline

I think that JohnanthanW has the right 1871, but I think that Squire's birthplace reads Sowby Bridge.

That seems odd, because Ovenden and Sowerby Bridge are two different districts of Halifax.
