Hi everyone. I'm fairly new to this site so please bear with me. I'm trying to find info about a marriage that took place Jun qtr 1905 in Dover of a Francis Arnold Battersby. Where can I look for this sort of info?

He married either Edith Mary Johnson or Hilda Pierce. To find out which, where and exact date you need to obtain a copy of the certificate. If you find him in the 1911 census it will give you his wife's name, as long as she is in the same household.

Hi and welcome to rootschat
www.freebmd.org.uk
is a site we all use to look up births marriages and deaths. It is not full coverage as yet but it is getting there and you can check what the coverage is for the years you want to search. The full index is on various paying sites too.
If you know the names of any children born after 1911 you can check to see what their mother's maiden name is as that is shown in the index. Just a fishing expedition to see if any Battersby births show up with one of the names of possible spouses is sometimes helpful too. There does seem to be at least one registered in Dover with the maiden name as Johnson - that is just gueswork though and you may need a certificate to prove it.
