I'll have to see if I get any reply from emailing the Rookwood  ???

I am also ordering his Death cert, which may help, although it's looking less likely that he married.

I keep coming back to the very specific date of moving from WA to NSW..16th June 1873...I find is odd that  a modern prison site has such specific info on a man released 16 years before that date.

Checking the Rookwood lists now (entering surname Clegg, and going thru the alphabet with 'first name' initials)

Already hit a few.....I'm trying to match rows/areas now....exciting stuff!

update: see a couple of possibles (i.e. Eliza Clegg d.1907) but grave number isn't the same? Not sure if goes by actual grave # or by plot # (which isn't shown)

Owen Clegg is buried in grave 202 in the Anglican section.

HA!...I just now see this post hidden on page 2!

That is amazing that you live so close, and that you are such a sweet person that you may go visit there for MY research at some stage!

Hi Trish!
acording to a newspaper clipping I saw from Nov 1875, Owen Clegg may have been working for the A.A. Company in Warrah, NSW (nr Tamworth?).

There is a record of an Owen Clegg playing in the annual A.A Company 'washers' versus 'shearers' cricket match - amazing!

No proof it's 'my' guy who moved to NSW in 1873, but it has potential as he worked in the wool/textile trade in England.

Plus he was an Englishman on the losing side of a cricket match in Australia... that's a dead giveaway there! :(

Hope all is well....kindest regards

Darren
