Ballycastle Photo 1950s Please help

My sister and I used to visit my Grandmother's family in Ballycastle in the the early 1950s.

I'm trying to identify my relatives who are in this early 1950s photo which I believe was taken outside 28 Glentaisie Drive, Ballycastle.

My grandmother was Ann McAuley born 2/12/1877 to Charles McAuley(blacksmith in Knocknacarry).

On the back of the the photo is 'at Aunty Kate's'.
 
Does anyone recognise anyone in the photograph?

Is the old man in the photo Charles D McAuley who was the blacksmith in Knocknacarry?

If so, which of the women in the photo is his wife Kate (nee McLaughlin). And is the other woman in the photo his sister in law Maggie (McAuley).

The man on the left Sandy Coyle, and his son Charles at the back. The lady with glasses is his wife Kathleen McAuley and her sister Margaret McAuley is seated with the child.  They all lived at that address and we're indeed related to Charles Mcauley as I used to visit Mary McAuley, Charles cousin as a child.

My great great grandfather was a blacksmith named Charles McCauley. He emigrated to Australia in 1842 from the parish of Donegore in County Antrim. The village of Parkgate (main centre of Donegore) according to Griffiths Valuation had a few generations of McAuleys (slight variation in spelling) operating a forge in Parkgate up until the early 1900s. I’m assuming these were brothers/nephews of my Charles - despite the variation in spelling given the tiny town and same name/occupation. Is there any chance your Charles McAuley could be part of same family? I note this family is quite a few miles away, so might be a long shot, but would be very grateful if anyone has any information. Thank you.

Hi there. Donegore is near the town of Antrim which is within the County of Antrim. The Charles McAuley mentioned in this thread is from Cushendall which is approx 35 miles from Donegore.  I could be wrong but happy to help more.

Thank you very much for getting back to me dmooney. Yes, I am aware that Donegore parish/Parkgate village are a fair way down the road, but just wondered if there might be a link. I guess McAuley (and McCauley) is a common name in Antrim and blacksmithing was a pretty common occupation, so maybe just a coincidence. Thank you again.

Hi Jono, you might be right.  CallumD has other posts on this forum where he mentioned he visiting McAuley family in Ballycastle and Ballymena which suggests a connection to Donegore.

Very interesting, thank you. Ballymena is getting warmer - so you never know. When I get a minute I will check out CallumD's other posts. In answer to your question, yes, I do have an ancestry page - not subscribed at moment but have learnt quite a bit from that. Have also managed to find a few great history sources on the Donegore/Parkgate region. I actually visited Donegore briefly about 30 years ago and found Charles's parents grave in the Donegore Church graveyard - my great, great, great grandparents. Hoping to get back there in the next couple of years.
